Diwali Celebration India

Diwali:

Diwali is a Festival of lights. It is the win of ‘Brightness’ over ‘Darkness’. It is the defeat of “Adharma” against “Dharma”. In India, we celebrate so many festivals for various reasons and traditions. According to the Ancient history we will celebrate “Diwali” mainly for 2 reasons

1- Based on Ramayana, on this Chathurdashi day, Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana in Lanka. So as a welcome gesture to Lord Rama to his kingdom the whole of Ayodhya was lightened then never before with lights in every house and every corridor in the Ayodhya. So as a celebration of Rama’s victory and arrival back home, we celebrate Diwali every year on this Chathurdashi day.

2- Varaha avatar of lord Sri maha Vishnu and Bhudevi gave birth to “Narakasura”. As he is a son of Bhudevi, she took a promise from lord Vishnu that Narakasura should not be killed by lord Vishnu and he should only be killed by his mother Bhudevi and till then he should not be killed. Narakasura took the privilege of his mother’s promise and he behaved very rudely with all Devatha’s,Rushis’s, and also common people. He also kidnapped the other Rajya’s women. About 16,108 plus women were harassed by Narakasura. All the Devatha’s went to Lord “Sri krishna” for help. Then Krishna arrived along with “Sathya bhama” to fight against ‘Narakasura’.

In the middle of the war lord Krishna went into some dizziness. Then by seeing Krishna in that situation Sathya bhama took the bow in her hand and defeated and killed Narakasura. In this way Narakasura was killed by ‘Sathya bhama’ even though he was born to Bhudevi. On this day of Narakasura’s death, all will celebrate “Diwali”. In fact this chaturdashi is also known as “Naraka chaturdashi”.

In this 2025, we will celebrate “Diwali” on 20th October, Monday(chaturdashi). Everyone enjoys this festival of lights with delicious sweets and friendly crackers. Have a safe, happy, healthy and memorable “Diwali”. Especially prevent your kids and our environment from polluting poisonous and harmful crackers into the air.
